A Mother’s Beauty

Oh mother, oh mother
from thee I know love
No other, no other
than she I dream of

The beauty first clutched be
the heat of thy breast
No duty more touched me
the beat of thy chest

Dear mother, dear mother
to me gentle sing
Another, another
softly strum thy string

The shape of thy nape bare
a nature so sweet
The bent of thy shape fair
a treasure replete

Oh mother, oh mother
a home giveth me
Forever, my lover
this poem ‘tis for thee
